JHIJHIYA DANCE IS A FOLK DANCE OF YADAV COMMUNITY
According to some people, the Jhijhiya dance is performed by all #Maithili speakers, regardless of caste. There are also those who say that it is a folk dance of maithili speaker/society. However, there have been claims by different castes/communities about this dance. This dance is claimed by the #Yadav, #Tharu, and #Solkan Samaj (Brahmanetter). However, this dance belongs to the Yadav community. Later, the participation in it increased and it became collective.
The reasons for Jhijhia dance’s belonging to the Yadav community are that the language, style, and style of dance sung in the dance should be similar to those of the Yadav community.Areas, districts, or villages in which Jhijhia dancing is popular must be dominated by Yadavs. The Yadav people are more traditionalist, conservative, and nature-lovers. Earlier, uneducated people were more in this community, and they believed more in Tantramantra and Dhamijhankri, and they believed more in witches and ghosts, etc. Since this dance is related to this, it can be assumed that it belongs to the Yadav community. The traditional occupations of the Yadav community are animal husbandry and agriculture. Being a purely rural caste, Dihbar must have been established by the Yadav community.
Wrestling is a traditional sport in the Yadav caste. It is customary to play wrestling after going to Dihbar Thaan . The beginning of the Jhijhiya dance also confirms that it belongs to the Yadav community. The term “Yadav” is traditionally used as a farmer-shepherd group and caste. The #Yadav community follows the Vaishnava traditions and accepts the Vaishnava religious values. During the Dashain, they have to live in a purely vegetarian way (like in other castes, fish, meat, and alcohol are consumed in the puja). The fact that Jhijhiya is also performed in a pure form confirms that this dance belongs to the Yadav community.Unlike other castes, there is no ritual of sacrifice to the idols or other rituals. Tharu falls under Matawali and tribe so Jhijhia cannot belong to that community. https://anchor.fm/dinesh-yadav64/episodes/JHIJHIYA-DANCE-IS-A-FOLK-DANCE-OF-YADAV-COMMUNITY-Jhijhia_Dance-e1mf4cu/a-a8ck7g5
