BUTTERFLIES
I was a free spirit
flying high.
Colourful and happy
a butterfly.
Sucking nectar from flowers
basking in God’s own light.
But on a rainy morning
When, my wings were wet
and i couldn’t fly away
my soul was trapped
by a mishevious boy
in a net,
I struggled to find a way
And fly away.
Everything was black and blue.
My wings were crushed
my hopes brushed.
I felt i was trapped.
Doomed it seemed i was.
Doomed around the world was.
Still i lay – quiet for days
When a hope was born
Sun peeped in through a hole
The light gave me strength.
My spirit reborn
The caterpillar fed on the net,
Grew its wings
And we became one .
The clutches were broken , the net strewn.
Two little butterflies
found a way-
flew away,
On the eve of Women’s day.
