Migraine Treatment- A Holistic Approach

Migraine is a physiological disorder which affects the subject to such an extent intermittently that it disrupts his daily life functions and makes his life miserable.

Therefore we have to first understand that migraine is not a disease and not caused by external factor, but it is a physiological change which occurs in the human body due to certain factors responsible for such a change which results in releasing certain chemicals in the brain which effect the normal physiological condition of body with reflexive recurrent impulses of headache ,blurred vision and discomforts.
The clinical treatment of migraine consists of administration of drugs to alleviate the pain and body discomfort inorder to bring the subject to normal condition.
But this treatment is only the temporary treatment to rescue the subject from the condition and is not a permanent solution , and problem again crops up after an interval and becomes recurrent in nature.

To understand the etiology of migraine , we have to understand causal factors responsible for such a condition.
We may classify these factors in two categories :
A. External factors
B. Internal factors

A. External factors consist of lifestyle induced changes which occur due to work stress and long hours of work without proper rest to the body and irregular munching habits for satiation of hunger in absence of wholesome meals at regular intervals , which give rise to metabolic disorders.

B. Internal factors consist of mental tension , mood changes and depressive condition of the brain due to psychological reasons of feeling of non accomplishment of task ,failure , loss of dear ones ,and mental trauma of various kinds , social and daily work related stress and feeling of dejection from active life.

The holistic treatment of migraine consists of studying the causal factors which are responsible for affecting physiological changes in body and putting consistent efforts in minimising these changes with commitment of achieving the goal to total recovery.

Studying migraine , we come across the following points for discussion :

1. Intensity :
It classifies the intensity of pain which is mild , medium ,or severe in nature.

Here it is important to mention that a different class of migraine also occurs in which there is no pain, but optical discomfort of blurred vision or zig zag formations appear, which is catagorised as Silent Migraine.

2. Period :

Period denotes the time upto which the pain persists , it may be in hours or minutes, depending on the release of chemicals by brain upto that period.
This period is not fixed and changes from time to time

3. Interval :

Interval specifies the span of days after which migrain resurfaces , ie : interval between two successive episodes.

Now treatment of migraine would consist of observing these points
vis- a’- vis management of factors responsible for physiological disorder.

1. Leading well regulated life :

This aims at systematic life with proper time management for daily chores and work hours with increased efficiency and putting efforts in minimising wastage of time for alleviating last minute stress of accomplishment of task.

2. Positivity :

Approach of positive thought process in analysing the problems and seeking the solution in best possible ways and exercising alternatives and options in the prevailing situation void of sentiments whatsoever.
So that there is no culmination of repent feeling of failure afterwards.

3. Introspection & undertaking corrective
measures :

Introspection for improvement in future performance and identifying the anamolies , shortcomings and mistakes committed , and seeking rectification measures will save the subject from depressive state of mind.

4. Improving food habits :

Improving the eating habits of timely regular meals and avoiding munching snacks and junk food , overeating ,avoiding intake of too much sugar and salt , deep fried food,
and incorporating nutritious easily digestible food in the diet plans in the form of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Pre cooked ready to eat food and canned fruit juices and colas should be avoided , as these contain harmful preservatives and excessive sugar or salt which are not good from good health perspective.

4. Physical & Mental Wellness:

Proper exercise to the body at regular intervals to keep body fit and active and providing mental solace by meditation, yoga , indulging in creative hobbies , such as creative art of painting ,sculpturing , performing arts of dance & music , enacting dramatic plays , engaging in passions for writing poems ,stories and articles ,
go in a big way keeping body fit physically and mentally.

Therefore strong metabolism and healthy mental setup help positively in eradicating the problem to a great extent from root cause level.

Proper rest to the body helps in regenerative process of body tissues and regulating the metabolism process for building strong immunity against external infections.
Therefore proper sleep is necessary in maintaining healthy immune body .

Besides, adherence to all the precautions and procedures above , the treatment is now based on observation of following three components of migraine and maintenance of their diarised record.

Observation & Maintenance of Record

Intensity :

Observation of intensity of pain on the scale of 0 to10 .
5 being mid level of intensity
beyond 5 increasing level with extremities of 7 to 10

This intensity has to be diarised with date wise entry of the each episode.

Period :

The duration upto which the pain persists should be recorded in hours minute and seconds format on date wise basis per episode .

Interval :

The intervening no of days between occurrance of two succesive episodes should be diarised.

Now, In this process we will observe the following patterns in our record :

1. The intensity of pain becomes constant in initial episodes and gradually lessens in succesive episodes , and reaches to the extent of minimal pain or converts into silent migrain over a period of time.

2. we also observe the time upto which the pain persists , this time reduces gradually in subsequent episodes and ultimately; it becomes very short confined to few minutes or seconds only.

3. We also find that the interval between two successive episodes widens from days to months and from months to years , and further convert into silent migrain without pain, persistent for a short period in minutes or seconds only and ultimately : free the subject from the clutches of painful migraine over a period of time.

The holistic natural treatment is only effective if the subject is seriously committed in attaining the desired goal by meticulously observing the methodology of keeping record and strictly adhering to dietary restrictions and following norms of physical and mental well-being as suggested in this
research note.
This treatment is time tested and has been helpful in treating many sufferers to complete recovery without adminstration of external drugs following natural methodogy only.

——————————-

Note : This Natural Method of Treatment has been derived by me after consistent effort in identifying the causal factors and meticulously following the norms to minimise these factors affecting physiological condition responsible for Migraine and observing it’s conduct systematically to arrive at ultimate positive inferences. Practically I have tested this metodology on few sufferers and have been successful to eliminate this problem from grass root level.
This article has been published for benefit of people suffering from Migraine to adopt holistic natural method of treatment without drug dependence to ultimate freedom from Migraine
