A Heart-Broken Soul.

We were connected by the strings of pain,
The thunderous cloud hovered, but no rain came.
A veil on my emotions, I always maintain,
Broken by your tears, and efforts go in vain.
A handful of fragile dreams took flight on a different plane,
The smile tried to appear, but the eyes did complain.
My heartfelt terrified, was it happening again?
In the middle of the battlefield, can innocence be sustained?
The moment flew away quickly and left me on a deserted lane,
The wounds ran so deep, that words could not begin to explain.
Even the heavens appeared in disarray, what now to restrain?
In my delusion, my soul cried out, “Only love remains,” in a heart-wrenching refrain.
