Unrequited
A single red rose, by the lamppost,
forgotten beneath the lonely light.
An empty page, a teary gaze,
I stand alone in the rainy night.
I watch from afar, while my heart is on fire,
You hold her hands, with a love so fine.
Your eyes they shine, when she gives you her smile,
While I pray to the lord and wish you were mine.
Unbeknownst I did, choose this one-way street,
Torn, should I turn back, or let my heart meet.
Though the end I see, is miserable for me,
Still my soul seeks solace, to see you complete.
A shattered mirror, to my own despair,
Reflects a choice, a future yet to dare.
Unrequited my love, a flame that burns above,
I run to you, though shards of truth may flare.
