22. We, a Republic !
Scores of lives went into martyrdom.
That is how we earned our freedom.
They quit their bed, joys and family.
To ensure we live our lives blissfully.
A shower of killer bullets they faced.
Giving us life, death they embraced.
Alas! This legacy we could not keep.
To our duties we did remain asleep.
It’s time now our lapses we did admit.
To our nation we have to do our bit.
Let’s join all our hands as a republic.
Untorn, undivided we’re Indian public.
